sadaf - RTA 3D Printed Bus Stop

Introduction

‘Sadaf’ is a 3D-Printed Bus Stop Scheme developed by MEAN* (Middle East Architecture Network), for the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The project proposes a future where 3D printing is utilized to build the infrastructure of the city of Dubai.

The design is inspired by the form of the seashells found on the beaches of the city.
Additive manufacturing is a process found in nature, in which layers of material are added to make complex optimal structures, a process that saves time, resources and energy.

The bus stop is designed to be panelized in pieces, which would fit the bounding box of industrial 3D printers. Every piece is unique, and interlocks to its neighbor to easily construct the structure.The modules of the bus stop could be transported to 2000 locations across the city and assembled into a durable, efficient structure; a Bus Stop that gives a new identity to the city of Dubai.

'صدف' هو موقف باص مطبوع بتقنية طباعة ثلاثية الأبعاد طور فكرته *MEAN (شبكة الشرق الأوسط للعمارة) من أجل سلطة الطرقات والمواصلات،  (RTA).
يقترح المشروع نظرة مستقبلية، حيث تستعمل الطباعة ثلاثية الأبعاد لبناء البنية التحتية في دبي.

التصميم مستوحى من شكل صدف البحر الموجود على شواطىء المدينة.

التصنيع بالتجميع هي عملية وجدت في الطبيعة، يتم فيها إضافة طبقات من المواد لجعل الهيكل بالبنية المثالية، وهي عملية توفر الوقت والموارد والطاقة.
تم تصميم محطة الحافلات من ألواح مقطعة بقياسات متناسبة مع المقاسات المحددة للطباعة في الطابعات الثلاثية الأبعاد.

كل قطعة منها فريدة ومصممة بحيث تتداخل مع جارتها لبناء الهيكل بسهولة. يمكن نقل وحدات محطة الحافلات إلى 2000 موقعا في جميع أنحاء المدينة وتجميعها في هيكل دائم وفعال، ليكون موقفا للحافلات يعطي هوية جديدة لمدينة دبي.
