Meal* DEsign innovation CAMPUS

Why Dubai?

Dubai strives to be at forefront of the maker movement through investing in leading innovative approaches and indigenous entrepreneurial talent, therefore contributing to the advancement of the global third industrial revolution.
Announced in 2016, ‘The 3D Printing Challenge’ initiative mandates 2% of new construction to be comprised of 3D printed elements; this percentage will grow to 25% by 2030, anchoring Dubai as the 3D printing hub of the world.

Visionary initiatives like the 3D Printing Challenge will have multiple positive impacts on the construction industry: attracting leading minds in the field of additive manufacturing, transforming construction sites to be more efficient and environmentally friendly, and lead to exponential savings on materials, time and money.
Additionally, Dubai is set to host Expo 2020, the first World’s Fair in the Middle East and North Africa.

Expo 2020 will be a showcase of technological innovation, design and cultural exchange, presenting a unique opportunity to promote the ambition of the UAE in the field of additive manufacturing.

A Place Where Innovation Can Foster

MEAN (Middle East Architecture Network) proposed a hypothetical 'Architectural Innovation Campus' for Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
The project integrates over 5 years of learning, generated through research and workshops with MEAN’s synergetic counterpart, MEAL (Middle East Architecture Lab).

MEAL Campus is a design-innovation center equipped with cutting-edge technologies for large-scale additive manufacturing (3D Printing) Robotic Arms, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) studios, as well as co-working spaces, to facilitate collaboration, supporting emerging designers with the necessary tools and expertise to prototype cities of the future.
Currently, the architectural innovation campus is a project with no client and no site.

The 640 Sqm space consists of a gallery foyer with a coffee shop, a co-working space, robotics fab-lab, and a reference library.
MEAL campus is a project intended to provide a visual proof of concept to potential investors looking to capitalize on the project, based on a business model and concept pitch deck.
